The New Structure Of Wellington Cricket Club

The New Structure Of Wellington Cricket Club

David Ross28 Nov 2024 - 10:00

We're changing how we do things from 2025.

Wellington Cricket Club is changing! Over the last few years, we have seen profound changes in terms our playing membership and underlying costs. In order to meet these fresh challenges, we’re moving to a new, streamlined club structure starting next season.

Why the Change?

Our current management system, with a large central committee and ad hoc subcommittees, is not the most efficient way of running the club we now have. It makes it hard to focus on some key areas and to plan for the future.

Introducing Our New Focus Teams:

Instead, we plan to introduce four dedicated teams from next season, each with clear goals. Every team will have a “Head” who will manage a small group of between four and six additional volunteers to help manage and complete the workload.

Administration Team: Runs the club smoothly, handles memberships, communications, safeguarding, and EDI.

Cricket Team: Oversees all cricket activities, from elite to junior levels, for both males and females, ensuring a welcoming and high-quality cricket experience for all.

Facilities Team: Maintains and improves our playing fields, nets, changing rooms, and social areas. They’ll also plan the future upgrades we will require.

Finance Team: Manages the club’s finances and explores new ways to bring in more money. This is a top priority for the club at a time of rising costs! They’ll be coordinating fundraising events, sponsorship packages, and grant applications.

A New Leadership Team:

The Heads of these focus teams, plus our existing key officers, will form a smaller Executive Committee, replacing the current Management Committee. They’ll work together to ensure everyone is on the same page and the club is progressing towards its goals on and off the field.

How You Can Be Involved:

This new structure is all about member involvement! We want to expand our volunteer base and have members participate in areas they’re passionate about. Think you would like to help in a certain area, like fundraising, maintenance, or admin? Contact David Ross on secretary@wellingtoncc.co.uk

The Future of Wellington Cricket Club:

This change is driven by our new Club Development Plan for 2025-2027, which will be presented to our membership next year. This plan outlines our medium- and long-term vision for the club. Want to contribute to this plan? We need volunteers for our new structure – so get in touch today!

We believe this new structure will create a positive future for the club. Thank you for your continued support! – The Management Committee
